By the beginning of Chapter Ten, the word “mad” has been used eleven times in a derogatory manner.

  • What does this mean for those with mental health issues who read the books?
  • Should J.K. Rowling have chosen more inclusive language?
  • Knowing that J.K. Rowling suffered from depression, what does her inclusion of the word “mad” in a negative way mean about mental health stigma?
