Goblin Stereotypes

Post by Admin on Sat Nov 07, 2015 2:29 pm

The descriptions of the Goblins in this book are consistent with European folklore, but also consistent with negative Jewish stereotypes.
  • Is it likely that the European folklore on Goblins was intentionally based on Jewish stereotypes?
  • Are the descriptions of the Goblins in this book anti-semitic in nature?
  • Given that Voldemort and the Death Eaters are at least partially based on Hitler and the Nazis, is it likely that the use of these stereotypes is intentional?
  • What other stereotypes do we see in the books?
